The kit. The methods. The people.
Every Corvus deliverable rests on three things: equipment that's calibrated and current, methods that are documented and defensible, and surveyors qualified to use them. Here's what stands behind each line on your invoice.
Ground penetrating radar
High-frequency antennas (1–2 GHz typical for concrete, 200–600 MHz for subsurface) emit short electromagnetic pulses and record reflections from changes in dielectric constant. We run survey-grade systems from leading manufacturers, calibrated each session, with field data backed up before we leave site.
- — Hand-held single-channel and array systems
- — Vehicle-towed multi-channel arrays for site-scale work
- — Real-time on-site interpretation and on-slab marking
Ferro scanning
Electromagnetic induction probes for cover-depth measurement, bar-diameter estimation, and reinforcement mapping. Calibration is checked at the start of every session and documented in the report.
- — Cover depth to BS EN standards
- — Bar diameter estimation across professional ranges
- — Logged data overlaid on slab maps
LiDAR & point cloud
Survey-grade terrestrial scanners capturing millions of points per second, registered through control targets to a few millimetres. Outputs are exported in your preferred format — E57, RCP/RCS, Revit, or floor plans and elevations on request.
- — Tripod-mounted scanners with HDR imaging
- — Mobile scanning for large or repeat captures
- — Registered to ground control points
Drones & photogrammetry
We fly under a UK CAA Operational Authorisation with current pilot competencies. Flights are planned, controlled, and processed to engineering accuracy.
- — Multi-rotor and fixed-wing platforms
- — Photogrammetric processing with ground control
- — High-zoom payloads for inspection work
NDT & concrete testing
Pull-out (Lok / Capo), rebound hammer, and core extraction with UKAS lab testing. We design the testing programme around the question being asked, not around the kit on the van.
- — BS EN 12504 compliant methods
- — UKAS-accredited laboratory partners
- — Statistical analysis with characteristic strength estimate
Reporting
Reports are built around the question you asked. Plain English, depth-accurate, CAD-ready. Every report is signed off by the surveyor who did the work — no anonymous deliverables.
- — Annotated PDF report
- — DXF / DWG plans for CAD use
- — On-slab markings with photographs
- — Method statement and calibration record
